Moldova continues to increase imports from the countries of the European Union, purchasing most of products from Romania, Germany, Italy, Poland and France. However, in general, the share of the EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports has decreased slightly.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in the first half of 2017 Moldova imported over $1.072 billion worth of goods from the EU countries, 16.3% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, the share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports decreased from 49.39% to 49.18% during the year.
