Moldova to create Investments Agency

The cabinet of ministers of Moldova April, 4 approved a decision on the organization and work of the Investments Agency. The latter will be set up through the merger of the Moldovan Investments Attraction and Exports Promotion Organization and the Tourism Agency.

“This is an important Agency and we rely on a true promotion, much more efficient one which has been so far, either we speak about tourist services or about the attraction of investors and Moldova’s presentation as a destination for investments,” PM Pavel Filip said.

The new entity has the task to contribute to the economic growth through increasing the level of foreign investments, the exports’ volume and developing tourism. Thus, the duties of the Agency deal with the promotion of Moldova’s image for the attraction of foreign investments, backing the investment activity and protecting investments, promotion of exports, tourism and strengthening the economic diplomacy.

In the context of the Agency’s creation, besides the duties of attracting investments and export promotion, the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry will take over the power of working out policies in the tourism sector. The transfer of these powers to the ministry will provide a bigger openness and a more efficient communication of the government with foreign investors, including the strategic ones.

The limit staff of the authority is set at 30 units.
