The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will have new structures from April 1, 2018, to further enhance the country’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
The new structures are:
- The General Directorate for European Integration-The Georgian Foreign Ministry will be the first state body with such a structure, which will directly respond to the country’s foreign priorities. The structure will be tasked with supporting Georgia’s European integration and coordination of EU support to Georgia. The structure will also monitor how the Georgia-EU Association Agreement is being implemented.
- NATO Integration Department-which will be tasked with supporting Georgia’s integration into the Alliance and coordination of the integration process.
- Strategic Communication Department will be tasked with improving communication with people and combat disinformation.
The Ministry will also carry out changes in existing departments to support Georgians’ employment in foreign organizations, better control current security threats and other issues as well.
