Till 1 July 2018, Uzbekistan plans to develop a Concept for establishment of a national banking processing center, which provides information and technological cooperation between banks participating in settlements on local and international bank cards.
On 23 March 2018, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures to increase the availability of banking services”.
According to the document, the concept should include measures to build and develop a national retail payment system, which ensures the security and security of transactions.
The document should include measures to create and develop affordable payment services, develop and promote innovative products, including contactless and mobile technologies, in the implementation of non-cash payments.
The concept will include measures to introduce technologies for contactless and mobile payments, especially in the areas of social services, transport, trade, catering, especially in the regions.
Also, measures will be taken to ensure interaction with international payment systems.
Uzbek leader instructed the Central Bank, together with the Association of Banks of Uzbekistan and commercial banks, to complete the integration of domestic payment systems with major international payment systems, ensuring the acceptance of non-resident payment cards in the entire network of payment terminals before 1 July 2018.
