Aviation specialist Azzurra – Premiere Handling Ltd (UK) has marked its first anniversary at Birmingham Airport by winning a contract to work with the Turkmenistan national carrier.
It will provide the ground handing for Turkmenistan Airlines, which operates five flights a week between Birmingham and Ashgabat from where there are on-going services to Amritsar.
Azzurra – Premiere Handling in Birmingham now employs more than 50 people, working on activities that included check-in, boarding and baggage handling in addition to cargo services.
In order to service Turkmenistan Airlines, there has been major investment by Azzurra – Premiere Handling such as equipment suitable for the airline’s fleet that includes the Boeing 777-200 LR.
Premiere Handling operates from Manchester, while Azzurra operates at both London Heathrow and Luton.
“The work with Turkmenistan is a great way to mark our first anniversary in Birmingham and builds upon our success in past year,” said Julian Van Gelder, managing director of Premiere Handling.
It is expected that there will be further additions to the portfolio of airlines working with Azzurra -Premiere Handling in the near future.
