The Kyrgyz Republic was not represented at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos since 1998. In 2018, at the invitation of organizers of the event, the Kyrgyz delegation headed by Prime Minister Sapar Isakov takes part again in the work of the WEF.
Today Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Sapar Isakov in the framework of participation in the World Economic Forum delivered a speech at the session Exponential Solutions for the Nonlinear World.
Representatives of the world’s largest companies such as Microsoft, HP, UPS and others took part in the work of this session, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported.
During the session, the role of analytical data in digital transformation of companies was discussed.
In his speech, the Head of Government told the audience about the experience of the Kyrgyz Republic in implementing the digital transformation program, including projects on digital government, digital education, healthcare, etc. and the Smart City project in Bishkek and Osh cities.
In addition, the Prime Minister spoke about the implementation of the project for the construction of a Regional Data Center in the framework of the Kyrgyz Republic and the World Bank’s Digital CASAproject.
Isakov specified that Kyrgyzstan was the first country in Central Asia to join the Open Government International Partnership program. According to the Head of Government, to be the first in the region in joining the Initiative is a great honor, but at the same time it is a great responsibility.
“The Kyrgyz Republic is moving forward to develop democratic institutions in the country. One of the main principles in the Government’s activities is an open and transparent policy. To date, biometric data of citizens has been collected in the republic and all the necessary conditions for democratic replacement of power have been created,” Isakov said.
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is an international platform of 74 countries and 15 subnational governments. OGP is a multilateral initiative that aims to secure concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to strengthen governance. OGP aspires to support both government and civil society reformers by elevating open government to the highest levels of political discourse, creating a supportive community of like-minded reformers from countries around the world.
