As of 1 January 2018, the number of operating enterprises with the participation of foreign capital reached 5517 units in Uzbekistan, including 3087 – joint ventures and 2430 – foreign enterprises.
The majority of enterprises with foreign capital function in Tashkent city 3624 units (65.7%), Tashkent region – 583 units (10.6%) and Samarkand region – 280 units (5.1%).
The smallest number of enterprises with foreign investments recorded in Khorezm region (51 units or 0.9%), Kashkadarya region (54 units or 1%), Surkhandarya region (57 units or 1%) and Navoi regions (60 units or 1.1%). This points to the need to strengthen co-operation with foreign partners, development and attraction of foreign investments in these regions.
In January-December 2017, 863 units of enterprises with foreign capital were established in Uzbekistan, majority of which were recorded in Tashkent city (535 units), Tashkent region (88 units) and Samarkand region (56 units). The smallest number of newly created enterprises with foreign capital were recorded in Navoi (3 units), Kashkadarya (6) and Surkhandarya (9 units) regions.
Majority of enterprises with foreign investments operate in industry sector (2438 units or 44.2%), trade (1055 units or 19.1%) and other sectors (993 units and 18.4%).
Lowest number of enterprises with foreign capital operate in health and social services (74 units or 1.3%), information and communication (126 units or 2.3%), agriculture, forestry and fisheries (159 units or 2.9%), transportation and storage (161 units or 2.9%), accommodation and meals services (220 units or 4.0%) and construction (291 units or 5.3%).
About 414 newly created enterprises in 2017 were created in industry, 136 unites – trade, 68 unites – construction, 51 unites – agriculture, forestry and fisheries, and 194 units – other sectors.
In total, the number of operating enterprises with participation of foreign capital in Uzbekistan made up 5517 units. Of these, 70.8% (3905 units) were created with investments from non-CIS countries and 29.2% (1612 units) – CIS countrues.
Over 1,035 enterprises were created with Russian investments, 281 enterprises – Kazakh investments, 91 companies – Azerbaijani investments, 58 – Ukrainian investments, 57 – Kyrgyz capital and 90 – investments from other countries.
At the same time, 3,905 companies were created with the Chinese capital, 510 enterprises – Korean investments, 508 – Turkish capital, 503 – British investments, 189 – US capital, 129 – Iranian capital, 125 – India, 123 – Germany, 114 – Afghanistan and 894 – other countries.
