US to assist Uzbekistan in accession to WTO

A US delegation led by Assistant US Trade Representative for Central and South Asia Mark Linscott held talks at the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan on 14 December 2017.

The American side highly appreciated the meeting of the Council of the framework agreement on trade and investment between the countries of Central Asia and the USA (TIFA) held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) on 12 December 2017.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed issues of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The parties considered issues related to Uzbekistan’s membership in the US General System of Tariff Preferences and Legal Protection of Intellectual Property.

The US delegation showed its readiness to assist in solving technical issues in the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached that permanent contacts between the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the office of the US trade mission will be established to effectively solve the above issues.
