Norway has allocated EUR 950,000 (10 million crones) for the implementation of the Council of Europe projects for Ukraine, Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine and Belarus Ole Terje Horpestad has said.
Norway allocates an additional EUR 950,000 in 2017 to ensure a transition between the current and future plans of action, he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
The ambassador noted that these funds would allow continuing the implementation of the activities of the Council of Europe after the completion of the action plan for Ukraine envisaged for 2015-2017 and a new action plan for 2018-2021, the draft of which has already been developed.
Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Morten Enberg noted that the past plan supported constitutional reform, the functioning of democratic institutions, judicial reform, police and penitentiary system reforms, along with gender equality.
According to him, the planned implementation cost of this action plan is about EUR 28 million envisaged for four years.
