Latvian company to participate in creation of High-Power Charging network for electric vehicles across Europe

Circle K fuel company has teamed up with IONITY to create a High-Power Charging (HPC) network for electric vehicles across Europe, LETA was told at Circle K Latvia. According to the plan, Latvia too will be included in the HPC network, initially providing the charging service at one fuel station. The aim of the partnership is to promote electric mobility in Europe.

Representatives of Circle K Latvia explained that IONITY is a joint venture set up by four carmakers: BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen Group. Cooperation with IONITY has been started to create and maintain a HPC network for electric vehicles based on the existing CCS (Combined Charging System) standard. The capacity of each charging point will be 350 kW, which will ensure very fast charging.

“We are glad about cooperation with IONITY, providing for the creation of the most powerful charging network for electric vehicles in Europe. This cooperation marks Circle K’s commitment to participation in mobility solutions. We want our clients to have the opportunity to use the latest technological solutions and cover long distances also with electric vehicles,” said Circle K Latvia CEO Gunta Jekabsone.

During its last fiscal year, which lasted from May 1 2016 to April 30 2017, fuel company Circle K Latvia (formerly Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia) turned over EUR 368.163 million, which was a 2.8 percent rise against a year before, while its profit dropped 2.6 percent year-on-year to EUR 21.009 million, according to information available at Firmas.lv
