First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Investments of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held talks with Vice-President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) of the United States Tracey Webb in Washington. Laziz Kudratov briefed the American side on the latest trends in the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan. In particular, information was provided on Uzbekistan’s efforts to improve the investment climate, reform the banking and financial system and introduce market-based mechanisms for currency regulation.
The Uzbek side expressed readiness of the Government of Uzbekistan to support US companies in implementing projects to produce a wide range of products in engineering, pharmaceuticals, electronic and electrical products, food and other sectors of the economy. Also, the parties discussed the prospects for activating the organization’s activities in Uzbekistan, including participation in the financing of investment projects implemented by US companies.
