On July 17, StrategEast unveiled the Westernization Report 2024 in Kyiv, Ukraine. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of the political and economic developments in the post-Soviet region during 2023, particularly highlighting the impact of Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. It emphasizes the transformation of Eurasia into a socio-economic battleground, with the US and EU counteracting Russian and Chinese influence.
The presentation was attended by representatives from leading think tanks, political consultancies, and international development programs.
Following the presentation, a roundtable discussion titled “Ukraine’s Role in the Transforming Eurasian Landscape Post-2022” was moderated by Hanna Myshko, Regional Director for Ukraine, Moldova, and the Gulf States at StrategEast.
Stephan Jensen, Country Director to Ukraine at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, discussed economic strategies for Ukraine’s resilience during the war and the role of international partners in supporting these efforts.
Elena Davlikanova, Democracy Fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, examined the implications of the Ukraine Compact and its potential to support Ukraine in the current geopolitical climate. She also addressed the challenges Ukraine faces in joining NATO and the potential for new regional security alliances.
Peter Dickinson, Editor of the UkraineAlert blog at the Atlantic Council, highlighted Ukraine’s integration with Western security technology and its strategic role in the European security landscape. He also explored how regional security systems in Europe and the post-Soviet space could complement existing frameworks like the EU and NATO.
Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, discussed the intensifying geopolitical dynamics in Central Asia and the Caucasus and the potential for regional instability. He emphasized Ukraine’s opportunity to enhance Eurasian regional stability by engaging more with developments in these regions.
The event underscored Ukraine’s pivotal role in the evolving Eurasian geopolitical landscape and fostered dialogue on strategies to enhance regional stability and security amidst ongoing challenges.
