Arab News has published an op-ed by Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast, highlighting the perspectives of cooperation between the Gulf countries and Central Asia.
These topics were uncovered during the GCC-Central Asian Investment Forum 2024 held in Riyadh this May.
Mr. Motkin advocates for Saudi Arabia to lead in establishing a permanent platform for these partnerships. Key areas for cooperation will include infrastructure projects and the digital economy.
Motkin suggests to hold similar annual events in different countries of the GCC and the Central Asia. Those gatherings would benefit from partnering with the government of the host country and engagement of major regional banks from the Gulf, while established working groups will identify priority areas of cooperation.
Anatoly Motkin highlights a win-win nature of a proposed event: “The format will allow GCC representatives to better understand Central Asian markets and identify investment opportunities. Host countries will benefit from showcasing themselves to the entire region while transforming the Forum into a universal strategic platform, Saudi Arabia will take the lead in GCC Central Asian economic collaboration.”
