On August 9, Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast has participated in the webinar on Opportunities and Challenges for American ICT Sector in Central Asia: Conversation with Central Asian ICT Decision-Makers hosted by The US-Kyrgyzstan Business Council (USKGZBC) and US-Tajikistan Business Council (USTJBC).
The conversation featured Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Cristen Bauer, Legal Advisor, Commercial Law and Development Program, U.S. Department of Commerce, Sherali Kabir, Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan, Indira Sharshenova, Deputy Minister of Digital Development of the Kyrgyz Republic, Elena Krukovskaya, Chief People Officer, Exadel, Sarah Wall, Project Director, USAID’s Future Growth Initiative Activity, Palladium, and Farkhod Ibragimov, CEO, IT PARK Uzbekistan.
Mr. Motkin walked through the main developments of StrategEast’s groundbreaking report on The Billion in the Distance: Central Asian IT Exports and Strategies for Growing Them which delves deep into Central Asia’s IT sector. This comprehensive study offers a unique perspective on the region’s tech industry, analyzing its current state, identifying key players, and forecasting future trends.
The speakers also uncovered the Central Asian countries’ specific priorities for the IT industry, the challenges of competing globally for innovative technologies and the creation of more jobs domestically, as well as the region’s expectations from the U.S. to help them advance creative partnerships, academic exchanges, and training of IT professionals.
The first regional report and policy recommendations, “The Billion in the Distance: Central Asian IT Exports and Strategies for Growing Them” was prepared by StrategEast with the support of EBRD and USAID.
