Anatoly Motkin, StrategEast President gave a talk on Ukraine’s tech ecosystem perspectives at the webinar hosted by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) “DACH Tech Talks: Resilience of the Start-Up scene in Ukraine”.
The discussion was centered on how tech startups and tech industry have been impacted by the ongoing war, how potential partnerships and international collaborations between developer teams have flourished even under these extremely adverse circumstances.
Mr. Motkin encouraged to start thinking of the country’s recovery now, not waiting until the ceasefire is in place: “Tech sector is one of the two pillars of Ukraine’s resilience along with the military. The IT is less vulnerable than other spheres, it is one of the most transparent and accountable sectors. What we have to do is to encourage investing in local startup ecosystem. Thanks to the unprecedented support of Ukraine’s international partners, today’s ambitious visions for a new Ukrainian economy are completely feasible. It has high chances of becoming one of the most digitally modern nations.”
The panel included Dr. Katja Muñoz, Research Fellow, Technologie and Foreign Policy, DGAP; Daniel Krauss, CIO & Founder, Flixbus; Liudmyla Petrenko, Professor of Business Economics and Entrepreneurship Department – Kyiv National Economic University.
The discussion was moderated by Rainer Rudolph, Deputy Head of Mission at German Embassy Vienna & Senior Fellow at DGAP.
