StrategEast hosted a webinar for LATAM on ways of fostering the IT industry development

On February 15, StrategEast hosted a webinar on “How to Make LatAm a Global IT Hub based on the Eurasian Experience“. The central topic of the discussion was the development of the IT industry as a driving force for economic development, and a social game-changer.

During the last few years, many countries in Latin America have been making efforts to develop the local IT Industry. Now, with the russian-Ukrainian war in the background, Latin America has the unique opportunity to attract a vast number of American engineering companies that are currently widely presented in Eurasia. Generally, working systematically, Latin America has the potential to become a new global IT Hub.

Being at the forefront of developing the digital economies in Eurasia, in collaboration with international financial institutions, development agencies, and global tech companies, StrategEast is well-positioned to replicate its successes in Latin America. Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast shared his unique experience in building tech ecosystems, sometimes from scratch, in Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region. Mr. Motkin also offered his expertise on a state’s tasks in successful IT industry development.

Arkadiy Dobkin, CEO & Co-Founder, EPAM Systems talked about the uniques role of EPAM as a main driving force behind the Eurasian IT ecosystem development and how just it grew up from a small R&D office in Minsk to a leading global engineering company and joined S&P 500. Along with that Mr Dobkin has shared hie expertise on the incentives to be developed to attract global IT companies to the Latin America.

Jesse Torres, CEO & Founder, Prime B2B took part in the panel discussion. Fabrizio Opertti, Manager of the Integration and Trade Sector, Inter-American Development Bank, moderated the event.

The webinar was attended by the representatives of trade promotion organizations responsible for digital services export promotion operations from Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
