StrategEast jointly with the German Council on Foreign Relations held a public discussion: Ukrainian Digital Resistance to Russian Aggression

On June, 30 StrategEast in cooperation with the German Council on Foreign Relations held a public talk on Ukrainian Digital Resistance to Russian Aggression.

The event was opened by Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, who touched upon the utmost importance of the IT sector and its successes in keeping the Ukraine’s economy alive during wartime.

Anatoly Motkin, President of StrategEast presented the key findings from the Ukrainian Digital Resistance to Russian Aggression report. In particular, Mr. Motkin spoke about the role that Ukraine’s IT industry is playing in the conflict and will play in post-war recovery, and provided recommendations how international institutions and other countries can best support Ukraine.

Tyson Barker, Head of the Technology and Global Affairs Program, DGAP highlighted the potential of the IT sector, the impression Ukrainian IT is making on the international community, and encouraged businesses to invest in IT.
Natalia Denikeieva, Director of the IT Industry Development Department and Head of the Diia City Project Office, Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine shared the ambitious tasks of the Ministry:100% public services online, roads and public infrastructure covered with high-speed internet, 6 mln Ukrainians having upgraded their digital skills, 10% of IT industry share in the country’s GDP.

The discussion was chaired by Alena Epifanova, Research Fellow in the International Order and Democracy Program, DGAP.
