Romanian company permitted to connect gas infrastructures of Moldova and Romania

Romanian Transgaz SA company received all the permits for the construction of a gas pipeline linking Moldova and Romania. This was stated by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Transgaz România Ion Sterian during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova Octavian Kalmyk.

The parties discussed various aspects related to the project of extending the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau, including the deadline for submitting tenders. The Moldovan side received a technical project, which meets all the requirements, including the most sensitive areas – the crossing of major highways. It was noted that in accordance with the established plan of action, the Moldovan parliament intends to ratify in October all the financial contracts with the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, according to which they will loan 41 million euros each for the project. Octavian Kalmyk and Ion Sterian agreed that the pipeline be put into operation in early 2019.
