The universities of the Eurasian countries have accumulated a large number of inventions, patents, scientific developments, which are not introduced to the market and are not implemented in the form of final products due to a lack of investment. The newest direction of the information technology industry – deep tech – is designed to commercialize such achievements of advanced science. How can a scientific development from Eurasia find its investor? – this will be discussed at StrategEast.Live panel discussion “Deep Tech in Eurasia”. The discussion will be broadcasted live to StrategEast Facebook page.
The moderator of the event will be Tamar Japaridze, the Head of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Business and Technology University, Georgia.

Tamar Japaridze – Head of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Business and Technology University (BTU), Georgia.
Before joining BTU, Tamar was part of the business support team at TBC Bank. Her role was to design and execute projects aimed at supporting Georgian entrepreneurs, including educational programs, accelerators and/or competitions. In her current role, Tamar is actively involved in managing similar programs initiated by BTU, including the Global Startup Foundation, which connects Georgian Startups with local and international investors.
Ilona Gulchak – Partnerships Manager at Commercialization Reactor, Latvia.
Ilona Gulchak, MBA – an executive and an entrepreneur with extensive experience in finance, investments and management. Spent 20+ years in the banking industry, including 10 years as a Chairperson of the Board at Baltic International Bank, presently continuing at the Supervisory board.
Actively engaged in deep-tech, managing investment, supporting science commercialization and helping new enterprises to bring value. Part of Commercialization Reactor’s team.
Ilona Gulchak holds her MBA from the University of Warwick (UK). She also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Latvia.

Oleksandra Humenna – Acting President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine.
Ms. Humenna is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Business Administration of the Faculty of Economics of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and holds a Ph.D. in Economics.
Her expert activities include: Expert of the Doctrine Ukraine-2030 team, Expert of the Women Entrepreneurs Committee at the Kyiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Editorial board’s Member of the scientific journal “The Scientific Papers NaUKMA. Economics” (Ukraine).
The research interests of Oleksandra are focused on creative economy and creative management, cluster approach and networking, innovation and investment projects, project management, innovative marketing and marketing of innovations. She has participated in international projects and published over 120 scientific, educational and methodical books and articles in national and foreign publications.
Jumat Kargin – Director of Technologies Commercialisation Department at L.Gumilyov Eurasian National University, Kazakhstan.
Mr. Kargin is a physicist with a Ph.D. in Physical and mathematical sciences. His scientific interests are thermodynamics and kinetics of the oxygen exchange in the Yttrium-copper-barium high-temperature superconductive oxides, iron oxides nanopowders, commercialization of intellectual properties, and the university’s modern challenges.
Jumat is a fellow of the International internship program «Bolashak». In the framework of IT, he worked in Cavendish Lab as a member of the Quantum Matter research group in 2013-2014.
Maxim Khomyakov – Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan.
Dr. Maxim Khomyakov is UCA’s Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining UCA, Dr. Khomyakov worked at the Higher School of Economics, Saint-Petersburg, Russia as the Vice-director focusing on the school’s strategy, research and international affairs. Moreover, he also has extensive experience as a visiting research fellow, advisor and lecturer at different universities across the globe including the European University Institute, Florence, Italy; The University of Johannesburg, South Africa; and Fudan University, Shanghai, China.
Dr. Khomyakov holds membership in professional associations and editorial boards and is invited to present at lectures and conferences. Furthermore, Dr. Khomyakov has multiple books, articles and translations published, including “BRICS as a New Form of Multilateral Relations: A Report for the Global Academic Summit” published in 2015.
