StrategEast has agreed upon collaboration on IT sector development with the Ministry of Economy of Georgia

StrategEast President Anatoly Motkin and the head of EPAM Georgia Sergey Ageenko met with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natela Turnava in Tbilisi.

StrategEast President assured the Minister that StrategEast, which recently held the State and IT Eurasian Forum in Tbilisi, will continue to work on the development of the IT ecosystem in the country making an acute accent on educational projects implementation and foreign direct investments to create new high paid jobs in the country.

The head of the EPAM Georgia Sergey Ageenko discussed with the Minister the prospects for the development of the IT industry in Georgia, in particular the possibilities of expanding the activities of one of the leading software engineering companies – EPAM Systems, in the country.

The Minister expressed her gratitude to EPAM for the confidence in the country, and to the StrategEast for assistance in the development of the digital economy in Georgia.

According to Mrs. Turnava, the IT industry will become the third pillar, along with tourism and agriculture, on which the Georgian economy will build on in the coming years. The Minister assured that the government has already identified IT as a priority, as evidenced by the rapid approval of a special 5% tax regime for IT companies in Georgia.
