The Royal Dutch Shell’s subsidiary, Shell Catalysts & Technologies and Surhan Gas Chemical Operating Company of Uzbekistan signed the process license agreement providing for building a 5 BCM natural gas throughput capacity gas processing plant in Uzbekistan.
The future plant will be located near gas fields south of Surkhandarya province. The project will be implemented in two pahses. Phase 1 will last until 2022, including geological exploration, drilling, infrastructure and building the gas processing plant. Phase 2 will last from 2023 to 2025, which envisages the construction of annual 500,000 tons polymers output capacity gas-chemical complex.
The new facility will use Shell’s advanced technology for separating gaseous impurities and turning them into by-products, which will help reduce the capital and operating costs.
Surhan Gas Chemical Operating Company manages the development of the Baysun investment block in Surkhandarya province.
