Ukraine joins drafting of WTO agreement on e-commerce

The delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine participated in drafting of the text of future WTO agreement on e-commerce.

“The delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine headed by Deputy Minister Taras Kachka participated in a scheduled meeting of co-authors of the joint statement of the WTO members on e-commerce which took place in Geneva on September 24-27,” the Ministry’s press service reports.

During the working visit, the Trade Representative of Ukraine held meetings with important trade partners of Ukraine, in particular, with representatives of the USA, EU, China, the United Kingdom, as well as the leadership of the WTO Secretariat and joined drafting of the text of future WTO e-commerce agreement together with the delegation members.

“During the working meetings with our partners, we discussed the important issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation and WTO reform. In particular, we touched upon ensuring the functioning of the dispute settlement system, enhancing the WTO’s function as a platform for multilateral trade negotiations, ensuring transparency and effective monitoring of the WTO activities, improving the efficiency of WTO bodies and other important issues,” Kachka added.
