EU4Energy to support Ukraine to develop new strategy for energy-efficient renovation of buildings

The EU4Energy Governance project undertakes to support Ukraine in developing a long-term strategy for mobilizing investment in the renovation of the national stock of residential and commercial buildings, to boost their energy efficiency.

On 19 July, Energy Community experts, representatives of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and the Ministry for Regional Development, Building and Housing and Utility Services of Ukraine gathered in a kick-off meeting. The strategy will take into account the national energy efficiency target until 2020 and 2030 for Ukraine calculated with the support of the EU4Energy Governance Project and will be updated every three years beginning with 2021. It will also provide a clear picture of the current breakdown of the building stock in the country in order to provide an evidence-based estimate of expected energy savings and wider benefits, including economic, societal and environmental benefits.

The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) is the responsible authority for the implementation of state policy in the fields of energy efficiency and renewables in Ukraine. Its work is coordinated by the Ministry for Regional Development, Building and Housing and Utility Services.
