Moldova was elected for the first time as Vice-President of the UN Commission for Europe within the Statutes of the World Tourism Organization (WTO). The decision was voted yesterday at the 64th meeting of the Commission for Europe of the WTO held in Zagreb.
According to the public diplomacy, strategic communication and media relations service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, yesterday Moldova was also elected as a member of two working committees of the WTO – Statistical Committee Tourism Satellite and Tourism and Competitiveness Committee.
According to Ambassador of Moldova to Spain, representative of our country to WTO Violeta Agrici, membership in these bodies will add value to promoting our country as a tourist destination, integrating new technologies and attracting foreign investments to Moldova.
Moldova was elected as Vice President of the UN Commission for Europe with the vote of 27 states in the first round of elections. Poland and Serbia, as they have accumulated an equal number of votes in the second round, will share the office of the second Vice-President of the Commission alternatively. Chairman of the Commission for Europe of the WTO without vote became Greece.
