Kyrgyzstan and Germany have signed financial contracts for 21 million Euros for the construction of medical facilities, the Embassy of Germany in Kyrgyzstan said.
The contracts were signed in connection with the visit of President Sooronbai Jeenbekov to Germany.
The signed contracts will support the construction of perinatal centers in Bishkek, Osh and Talas and equipment. The funding was provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development following the interstate talks in 2017. Signing of the contracts according to international law norms was made possible recently. The German Development Bank will administer the implementation of the projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.
The first financial contract increases the budget of the project for the construction of an additional building to the National Perinatal Center in Bishkek for 2 million Euros from 10.5 million to 12,5 million. The additional building will be commissioned no later than by 2020.
The second financial contract includes the construction of and equipment for the perinatal center at the Osh region hospital. The project budget is 14.5 million Euros. The government of Kyrgyzstan co-finances 1.5 million Euros.
The third financial contract envisages construction of and equipment for the additional building of the obstetrics and neonatology department of the Talas region hospital. The project budget is 6.2 million Euros. The Kyrgyz government will contribute 200,000 Euros.
