Ukrainian startups have raised over $300 million in investment over past year

Over the past year, the venture capital investments in Ukrainian IT companies have totaled $336.9 million. An average amount received exceeded one million dollars.

According to the Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity (UVCA) Overview 2018, the number of successful investment operations has grown from 85 to 115.

Almost a third of the total investment was attracted by GitLab, founded by Kharkiv resident Dmytro Zaporozhets. In September, a startup raised $100 million in investment from Iconiq Capital. As a result of the transaction, the company became a “unicorn” as its valuation exceeded $1 billion. In December, financial conglomerate Goldman Sachs also made an investment in GitLab.

The overview shows that online services and software companies occupy leading positions on the number of transactions. At the same time, hardware and software companies have attracted the biggest investment.

BitFury – $80 million;

People.ai – $30 million;

GitLab – $20 million;

YayPay – $8.4 million;

DreamTeam – $5 million;

Restream – $4.5 million;

Busfor – $4 million;

Preply – $4 million;

Spinbackup – $1.5 million.
