Georgia, Romania, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have signed a document establishing the Black Sea-Caspian Sea Freight Transport Corridor today, opening new possibilities for connectivity and regional development in the region.
The foreign ministers of all four countries met today in Bucharest, Romania to sign the deal.
Georgian Foreing Minister David Zalkaliani posted on his official Twitter account about today’s meeting and deal.
They stated that this new corridor will be the shortest, most profitable way to connect Central Asia to Europe through the two seas.
In order to develop the new route a group of experts will be created that will help to harmonise tariffs and simplify custom procedures.
The Georgian delegation underlined that making Georgia a regional logistic centre is the government’s priority and that various projects are being developed in this regard.
The quadrilateral meetings between the foreign ministers of the four countries will be continued and will be held once every year. The next meeting will be held in Turkmenistan.
