In 2018 foreign investors poured $10.8 billion into the real sector of the Belarusian economy (except for banks), representatives of the National Statistics Committee of Belarus told journalists.
The main investors were commercial entities from Russia (38.3% of all the investments received), the UK (25.7%), and Cyprus (7.8%). Foreign direct investments amounted to $8.5 billion, 78.7% of all the foreign investments received. In 2018 Belarusian commercial entities (except for banks) invested a total of $6.1 billion abroad. Considerable investment volumes were channeled into companies in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (6.7%).
The FDI share was as high as 93.5% of the total outbound investments.
