US OPIC resumes a $21 million agrarian project in Uzbekistan

The delegation of the Hosiyatli Bog’ Plus farm from Jizzakh region held talks with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in Washington D.C. The discussions focused on creation of intensive orchard system and state of the art farm in Bahmal district, Jizzakh region, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.

$21 million worth project will include planting of apple, almond, cherry saplings, construction of greenhouses, refrigerators, drying equipment.

The ventures will grow agricultural products, process and export them mainly to the countries neighboring with Uzbekistan.

150 work places will be created, half of them will be held by women.

The project will be launched in March 2019. It will be the first project financed by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation following signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan during the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Uzbekistan in May 2018.
