The EU and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will help improve pig farming practices in Ukraine by helping create modern production capacity at Nyva Pereyaslavschiny Group – one of the largest companies in the sector in Ukraine.
The project envisages the construction of a meat waste recycling plant and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. A bank loan will allow the company to expand its pig farming capacities and construct a meat-processing factory.
The project will also benefit from an incentive grant aimed at covering part of the expenditure on new straw boilers and the meat waste recycling unit.
This will be provided through the EBRD’s Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change (FINTECC) programme designed to transfer technology in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation, which was launched in Ukraine in February 2016.
FINTECC, a three-year programme, received a €4 million grant from the EU’s Neighbourhood Investment Facility.
