Georgian wine exports to EU hit 30-year high

According to National Agency of Wine, 86.2 million bottles (0.75 l) of wine are exported from Georgia to 53 countries worldwide in 2018 increased by 13% compared with the previous  year.

The cost of the export wine reaches 203 million USD, which is increased by 20% comparing to the same period of 2017.

To note, 284 companies made export of various volume of wine in 2018. The number of exporter companies is grown by 34 comparing to the same period of the last year.

Export has been increased on the strategic markets of  Georgia: Japan – 37% (211 883), Poland – 31% (3 508 122), Great Britain – 33% (105 608) and the USA – 2% (466 056); including the European Union, the export was increased by 378% (25 350) in Switzerland, Denmark – 111% (17 834), Romania – 100% (99 774), Czech Republic – 81% (61 908), Italy 69% (17 244), Germany – 20% (483 791), Lithuania – 17% (488 154), France – 14% (113 885), Latvia – 14%, Bulgaria – 60% (26 790), Netherlands – 38% (1 711 078), Estonia – 11% (581 190) and so on; on the traditional markets and Asia: South Korea – 275% (68 124), Turkmenistan – 196% (197 694), Kyrgyzstan – 63% (218 550), Azerbaijan – 40% (197 724), Mongolia – 27% (214 398) , Ukraine – 26% (10 687 835), Kazakhstan – 8% (3 599 143) and others.
