Azerbaijan’s SOCAR to use US Honeywell technology for modernization

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will use technology Honeywell UOP in the process of modernization of the Baku oil refinery n.a. Heydar Aliyev.

SOCAR reports that the technology is based on short-cycle adsorption (PSA) to produce high-quality hydrogen.

“The new PSA technology will help meet the growing demand for euro 5 fuel in Azerbaijan,” the Company said.

Honeywell UOP will supply two units PSA to SOCAR’s oil refinery to be monitored by systems Process Solutions Honeywell C300. After completion of the modernization process, the refinery will be able to process 7.5-8 million tons of crude oil annually from local fields, including the Neft Dashlari (Oil Rocks), Surakhani and Shirvan fields. The production efficiency of euro 5, aviation fuel and asphalt will increase.
