Azerbaijan inviting foreign companies to privatization in steel, chemical industry, agriculture

Azerbaijan is inviting foreign companies to take part in the privatization of state facilities and properties, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Property Committee Karam Hasanov said Oct. 26 at the 6th meeting of privatization department heads of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

“In order to attract foreign investors to the privatization process, invitations were sent to many investment companies, commercial and investment banks, as well as foreign companies,” he said.

He noted that there are ample opportunities for cooperation with foreign investors in metallurgy, chemical industry, agriculture, culture, tourism, etc.

In addition, he noted that at this stage independent appraisers are attracted to evaluate state property in accordance with market principles. Over the past year, 1,500 state properties were privatized, he added.

In general, over 1.1 billion manats were raised through investment competitions and more than 20,000 jobs were opened, Hasanov added.
