An investor from Poland intends to found a major furniture enterprise in Grodno Oblast, BelTA has learned. The relevant agreement was signed by the Grodno Oblast administration and the Polish company Szynaka Meble during the international business forum Euroregion Neman 2018, which took place in Grodno on 14 September.
Jan Szynaka, Szynaka Meble CEO, said: “Poland is a major exporter of furniture in Europe and the world. At present our manufacturing enterprises are operating at peak capacity. Proximity to Belarus gives us an opportunity to grow further in order to satisfy demand on the global market.”
The executive underlined the importance of the fact that a furniture-making cluster is being created in Grodno Oblast and the necessary raw materials are available. The decision where the enterprise will be located will be made soon. Jan Szynaka noted that the free economic zone Grodnoinvest is the most probable location. Dozens of millions of euros will be invested in the project.
“It will be a major enterprise and will make a large choice of all kinds of furniture. The number of employees may reach 500 people once the enterprise has reached its designed output capacity,” noted Jan Szynaka.
The project is supposed to be implemented within two years. At present over 3,500 employees work at seven Szynaka Meble factories in Poland.
