Moldova enhances energy efficient lighting system due to EU4Energy Initiative

A new energy efficient public lighting system has been installed in the Moldovan town of Cantemir as part of the EU-supported “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects” programme, which is part of the EU4Energy initiative.

In the framework of a specialised workshop conducted by the power distribution company “Electromagnetica”, the local authorities learned about managing the new public lighting system. The new system offers the possibility to measure electricity consumption, as well as regulate the power of every single lamppost. A real-time test of the system was performed jointly by the local administration and experts.

As a result of the project, the inhabitants of Cantemir will enjoy modern public lighting on the streets of their hometown and the town’s administration will be able to save energy and money.
