The European Commission will provide Moldova with over 12 million euros to support the economic development, improvement of the conditions for work and business environment and strengthening capacities in the economic governance sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The cabinet today approved the starting of talks on an agreement on financing between the Moldovan government and the European Commission on strengthening the growth potential of Moldova through a transparent, efficient and competitive economic environment.
The agreement provides for the offering of 12 million euros through the European Neighbourhood Instrument, another 250,000 euros is seen in the EU’s Annual Action Programme 2017. The money will be used for measures regarding the fair enforcement of the commercial legislation, efficient management of state’s assets and public investments, consolidating the protection of investors’ rights, promoting the reforms in supervising the financial sector.
Also today, the cabinet approved the starting of negotiations and signing an agreement between Moldova and the European Commission, which provides for the earmarking of five million euros to turn Moldovan citizens more responsible. The fields due to benefit from support are: civil society, good governance, water and sanitation, waste management and energy efficiency.
