Belarus, Switzerland enhance trade and economic cooperation

The operation of the Belarusian-Swiss trade and economic cooperation committee has been resumed after a three-year break, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The tenth session of the committee took place in Bern, Switzerland. The previous one took place in Minsk in 2015. The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov. The Swiss delegation was led by Erwin Bollinger, Head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Division of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and a Delegate of the Federal Council for Trade Agreements. The sides exchanged information about the state and prospects of development of the national economy. Belarus-Switzerland cooperation in finance and insurance, science and technology, transportation by air, the development of banking industry and tourism was discussed. Ways to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in trade, in the sphere of credit and investment were also discussed.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed by the free economic zone (FEZ) Brest and the Joint Chamber of Commerce Switzerland-CIS/Georgia (JCC). The sides agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry and the Swiss national tourism marketing agency Switzerland Tourism in the near future.
