Coalition Brings Government Leaders from Former Soviet States to Help Promote Closer Ties with the West

Open World Leadership Center, Eurasia Foundation and StrategEast are hosting its first Young Leadership Program between June 3-10. As a part of the program, the participants – nine Deputy Ministers from Post-Soviet countries (excluding Russia) will be visiting the United States to deepen their exposure to rule of law, free markets and democracy.

During the program, the Deputy Ministers will meet with Congressman Joe Barton, Ambassador John O’Keefe, Ambassador Beth Jones, Vice Chairman of the Newseum Shelby Coffey, l government officials, and representatives of civil society and the private sector. The participants will also divide into two groups and spend several days in home stays – in Philadelphia, PA and Richmond, VA – to experience life in ordinary American households.

The participants of the program are:

  • Vice Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nataliya Pan
  • Deputy Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov
  • Vice Minister of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania Martynas Norbutas
  • State Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Tatiana Molcean
  • Head of International Relations at the President’s office of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokimzoda Manuchehr
  • Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry on European Integration of Ukraine Nataliya Boyko
  • First Deputy Minister of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan Olimjon Umarov
