Belarus, US plan to explore cooperation in high technology

Belarus and the United States plan to explore, at the expert level, cooperation in high technology and examine the prospects for carrying out joint scientific and innovative projects, including in medicine and medical technology, intellectual property, technology transfer and commercialization. Such an agreement was reached during a meeting between Chairman of Belarus’ State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin and U.S. Charge d’affaires to Belarus Robert Riley.

Alexander Shumilin noted that Belarusian and US scientists and researchers can carry out various joint projects, including as part of the EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation Horizon 2020.

Belarus and the United States also plan to look into possible cooperation in supporting innovative entrepreneurship and start-up youth movement, developing innovation infrastructure objects and a venture investment system. The agreement on cooperation in science and technology between the governments of Belarus and the United States was signed on 17 January 1994.
