General Electric (GE) and Uzbekenergo intend to expand cooperation in the energy sector.
GE and Uzbekenergo signed agreements within the framework of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyeva to the United States.
In particular, the parties will consider construction of a new combined-cycle unit at the Tashkent thermal power plant (TPP). The capacity of the new unit will be more than 660 MW. The unit will be based on GE turbines of H-class.
The companies will also form a working group. The Group will analyze the prospects for applying high-efficiency technologies in steam generation for new coal power units in Uzbekistan.
The use of GE technologies can increase operational indicators of power units due to more efficient coal combustion, including high-ash species, and to ensure compliance with international emission standards.

GE was the main supplier of equipment for the 370 MW CCGT unit at the Tashkent TPP. GE is currently working with Hyundai Engineering to build two 230-280 MW CCGT units at the Takhiatash TPP.
