Austrian business explores investment opportunities in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on December 4 hosted a Turkmen-Austrian business forum with the participation of heads and representatives of official bodies and companies from Austria that specialize in areas of power, mechanical engineering, agriculture and food-processing industry, manufacturing of building materials, road building, transport and logistics, tourism, education and software, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reported.

The forum participants underlined that today in Turkmenistan all conditions for effective activity of foreign companies have been created, and that the Turkmen government has provided essential privileges for foreign businesses.

The forum’s agenda included issues of strengthening and expansion of trade and economic relations, acquaintance of business circles of Austria with investment opportunities in Turkmenistan, prospects of implementation of joint projects for creation of innovative manufacturing enterprises and introduction of advanced information and marketing technologies.

The head of the Austrian delegation — director general for foreign economic relations of the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy of Austria Franz Wessig — emphasized the great value of the forum in the context of further development of bilateral cooperation and more active dialogue between Turkmenistan and the European Union.

Representatives of Austrian companies were acquainted with the current macroeconomic situation, investment climate, and directions of business development in Turkmenistan.

Today, December 5, Ashgabat is hosting the 9th session of the Turkmen-Austrian joint intergovernmental commission.
